  3.      Habitat - The Varied Thrush prefers to breed in moist, dense western forests along the Pacific coast and in the cool evergreen forests of the western mountains. It also nests in deciduous forests. In winter, birds that nested in the mountains move to lowland forests. The Varied Thrush may appear in wooded gardens and backyards, especially during migration and in cold weather.
